> Dr. Miguel Miyares, MD, PhD

Director of ICSA

Professor of Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology. Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Dr. Miguel Miyares graduated as MD at Universidad de Oriente Cuba in 1971. Dr. Miyares' specialty is in Clinical Biochemistry. In 1977 he got his PhD at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana, Cuba. Dr. Miyares was the Vice Dean of Basic Sciences at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba. Dr. Miyares has extensive experience in administration and teaching at several Caribbean medical schools.

> Dr. Lina Díaz, MD,PhD

Professor of Anatomy

Dr. Díaz graduated as MD at the Universidad de Oriente, Cuba in the year 1973. Her residency was at Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba. Dr. Diaz is a specialist in Human Anatomy. In the year 1987 she got her PhD at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana, Cuba. Dr. Díaz has also practiced at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba.

> Dr. Dmitri Tonkopi, MD,PhD,MSc

Professor of Pharmacology and Physiology

Dr. Dmitri Tonkopi graduated from the Military Medical Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1988. He has completed postgraduate trainings in Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology and Reanimatology. In 1992 he got his PhD degree in Clinical Toxicology and Internal Medicine at the Military Medical Academy in St. Petersburg working as Assistant Head of Toxicological ICU. In 2003 Dr. Tonkopi completed Master’s Degree in Hyperbaric and Undersea Medicine.He has 16 years of experience in teaching undergraduate and post graduate students. His scientific interests include Toxicology, Pharmacology and Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Tonkopi has attended different scientific meetings all over the world, published articles in various medical journals and has patents for several new medications that improve physical performance.

 

> Dr. Guillermo Amaro, MD

Visiting Professor of Behavioral Science

Dr. Guillermo Amaro graduated at the Universidad de Oriente, Cuba in the year 1973. His residency was at the Hospital Psiquiatrico de la Habana, Cuba where he got the first specialization degree in Psychiatry in 1980. Later, in 1987 Dr. Amaro completed his second specialization degree in psychiatry, which is the highest. He has also completed postgraduate courses in Prague, Czech Republic and Berlin, Germany.He was associate professor in the Medical University of Havana (Facultad "Calixto Garcia") and full professor in different Universities in Dominican Republic. Dr. Amaro was also Mental Health Advisor for Pan American Health Organization during two periods and for the Public Health System in Dominican Republic. He is also an International Member of the American Psychiatric Association. He published more than 50 papers in different medical journals in Spain, Brazil, Dominican Replublic, Cuba, Costa Rica and Argentina and attended several scientific conferences in Russia, Belgium, USA, Brazil, Barbados, Canada, Argentina etc.

> Dr. David R. Bachinsky, PhD

Visiting Professor of Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology

Dr. Bachinsky is graduate of University of Massachusetts at Lowell and gained his PhD at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Bachinsky has 18 years of combined experience in academia and medical industry. His teaching subjects include Nutrition, Molecular Biology, Medical Genetics, Pathology, Microbiology and Biochemistry.
